Getting Started

First day, first minute and lots of learning to do. Never blogged. Never even answered a blog. So I will be a bit s...l...o...w!

Seems like everyone answers the 'why did you decide to do this?' I am not young...my hair is the color of silver. And I am a knitter. I know there are thousands of blogs from knitters so this is hardly a unique activity. I read a blog which talked about how the blog was a way to keep track of knitting projects and a way to meet and converse with other knitters. Sounds like a good enough reason to me.

Projects? Several languishing in various canvas bags sporting the names of my yarnshop haunts. Socks, a lace one from the Gathering of Lace, an Aran for my husband that makes me feel guilty everytime I look at it. My active project is one I've just got off my duff to do after 18 months of fearing to get started.....Master Knitting Level 1 from the TKGA.

Now that I've started what I thought were the easy ones...the swatches 1 through 9 ...are not so easy. My selvages are awful. My increases and decreases are suffering from the same affliction as my selvages. I've read most of the message board and the documents on the Master Knitting but I end up with more questions about why....even though I'm knitting on the tips of my needles and get fairly even stockinette, I get super loose edges and loose stitches in my increases and decreases. At this point...I'm just re-knitting and hope I can solve this problem before I run out of time.

I said that right...well not really. Just have until late June to finish this. But as one of the original procrastinators...it is probably the only way I'll do it.
